Bamboo Brand Tapioca Products originated from the genuine passion of Mr. Sukit Wanglee, the third-generation heir of the Wanglee family. He recognized the immense potential of cassava, a Thai economic crop that was still relatively unknown in the global market at the time. With his forward-thinking vision, he began with a wholesale business, eventually laying the foundation to become a producer of high-quality tapioca starch that gained international recognition.
On a national level, Mr. Sukit played a significant role as the President of the Thai Tapioca Trade Association for multiple terms. He also initiated the establishment of an independent fund for cassava development without relying on government budgets. Furthermore, he served as the Chairman of the Tapioca Development Institute Foundation of Thailand, founded in 1992 under the support of the Ministry of Commerce. The foundation was funded through the auction of export quotas for 500,000 tons of pelletized cassava. Its purpose was to promote research on cassava varieties, processing technologies, and to build sustainable knowledge for Thai farmers.
Although Mr. Sukit Wanglee passed away in 2024, his legacy continues through the Poonphol Group, which operates a Cassava Learning and Research Center in Chaiyaphum Province. This center is dedicated to developing knowledge, varieties, and innovations to carry forward the value of Thai cassava toward a sustainable future.
